Jaimie Admans Top 5 Christmas Songs

I love Christmas songs. I wrote North Pole Reform School with North Pole Radio playing in the background, highly unusual for me because I can’t normally concentrate on writing with music on, but Christmas songs really helped set the mood for the book and get me in the right frame of mind, so I thought I’d share my five favourite Christmas songs today. I hope that’s all right!

1 – My Favourite Time Of Year by The Florin Street Band

This is totally my top Christmas song, it’s so traditional, warm and catchy. I love the old-fashioned video and singing along too.

2 – Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl

This was actually my favourite Christmas song for years, until the Florin Street one came out a couple of years ago!

3 – December Song – George Michael

This is such a lovely song. The video is captivating, the lyrics are gorgeous, and the whole thing works so perfectly!

4 – All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey

I’m quite a fan of all Mariah’s Christmas songs, to be honest, but I chose this one as it’s the best known! I love Miss You Most At Christmas Time and her version of Joy To The World too. You can’t beat Mariah for a bit of warbling* along to in December!

*Warbling only takes place when house and surrounding area are empty. Unfortunately do not sound quite like Mariah when I attempt warbling.

5 – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – John Barrowman

I’m a bit of a John Barrowman fan, and I do think he does a smashing version of this song, which is one of my favourites anyway!
