From the New York Times bestselling author of Rumor Has It and the Lucky Harbor series comes the story of a woman whose world is turned upside down by one night’s torrid fling…
Veterinary intern Emily can’t believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.
Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn’t just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans…
Okay. So. Wyatt Stone happened and it changed my views on Animal Magnetism forever! I’ve read the first book of the Animal Magnetism series and, well, I did not finish it. I think it had something to do with the characters that got into my nerves. Usually, I love Jill Shalvis’ works, especially her Lucky Harbor series but Animal Magnetism didn’t work out for me not until I met Wyatt Stone. *swoon*
What I like about this book is how REAL the characters are. Wyatt stone is not a billionaire, he lives in an ancient house with his two sisters, he has plans to build a forever home in Sunshine, Idaho, and absolutely loves his job! Emily on the other hand has her own problems as well. She tries hard to provide for her family (dad and sister) who’s contented to live paycheck-by-paycheck, she took care of her mom diagnosed with MS until she passed away, and she badly wanted her internship job in L.A. tending to the pets of the rich and famous than working in a small clinic in Sunshine, Idaho. They live simple lives just like most of us.
When Wyatt and Emily met, it was suppose to be a one-night thing. Never to happen again. However, fate has other plans for them. In a small town as Sunshine, Idaho they met in Belle Haven Animal Clinic. Emily as the new intern, and Wyatt as her supervisor. This is one of those wicked twist of fate that I love, one-night stand meets again in a very unexpected circumstance. In reality, it doesn’t happen quite often. If it did, things could get awkward and nasty in the end.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Jill Shalvis novel without some good fun, laugh. I love how Shalvis delivers a good tickle that keeps me reading it again. There is also your occasional family issues like Wyatt and his sisters. I feel bad for the guy and yet I admire him for being more understanding in the female psyche. He knows how to please and appease the female species. But like any other guy living and breathing in this planet, he has problems declaring his undying love and devotion for the woman he adores. Like I said, typical guy.
If you’re looking for very kinky, Fifty Shades of Grey kinda novel, well, this isn’t for you. This is an HEA with minimal sensual scenes involve. More fun and laughter that will make you read all Jill Shalvis books.
